Rachel Lamarre

MOSAIC

Artist Residency

The Summer Artist in Residence position deals with all aspects of working with MCLA’s MOSAIC. The resident aids in installations and deinstallations of Gallery 51 exhibits, designs and distributes marketing, participates in all aspects of gallery management, and serves the North Adams community as a whole through community engagement strategies. Along with working in the gallery, the Summer Artist in Residence also

creates their own arts-based project. This will be displayed in an exhibit in Gallery 49 at the end of the residency.

“My experience in this residency has been invaluable. I have been able to work on events that have to do with both visual and performing arts, which has been a great change of pace for me as I mainly focus on theatre work. We also have set, yet flexible work hours, which gives me the freedom to work on my project as I please without the pressure of doing it at a certain time every day. For my project, I have been running a skill-building through theatre session at Pine Cobble’s summer camp in Williamstown, MA. Half of my project involves researching and planning the best activities to do and the educational outcomes of them, while the other half has been running the sessions at camp. I’m there 3x a week for an hour and a half each time, and it has already been such a great experience to work with young creatives and teach the next generation of theatre-makers.”
