Liz Brick at The Clark Art Institute

The Clark’s Membership intern works directly with patrons of the museum and are representatives of the advancement office at the admissions desk. They work directly with members of the museum, as well as VIP Guests and normal museum visitors who might have an interest in getting more involved with The Clark. Interns answer questions about memberships, sell memberships to those who are interested, and assist with member events and programs. Behind the scenes, Membership Interns work in the office to process donations and gifts to the Clark, answer phones to help members edit or renew memberships, and put together membership letters and materials. An additional component to the internship is to collaborate with Williams College interns in presenting programs for each respective school to encourage MCLA students to feel welcome at the institution.

“My experience at the Clark has changed my life in so many ways and has given me much needed insight and opportunity to further my career in the arts.” – Elizabeth Brick

As well as my job description’s duties, I was able to attend member events such as gallery talks done by curators, and “rare book talks” that focus on the Museum’s Library and Works on Paper collection. I hosted an event specifically for MCLA students for the kickoff of our Trailblazer’s Program, A rewards program for MCLA students to receive rewards such as free coffee, with every visit to the Clark, and eventually leading towards an actual membership with full benefits.
