Black History Month (BHM) is a time for celebration, rejoicing, and empowerment!
Throughout the month of February, our ALANA (African, Latino, Asian, Native American) clubs and organizations, representing MCLA's diverse student body, have been dedicated to creating workshops, socials, and resources that celebrate Black culture and uplift students of color.
Mariama Bayo, or Yama, as her friends and colleagues know her, took the initiative to create a calendar highlighting "Twenty-eight Influential Black Muslims". Yama, president of the Muslim Student Association, was inspired to create this project as a way to showcase some of history's most distinguished Black Muslim voices. Her project features 14 men and 14 women of Black Muslim identity who've had impactful effects in their respective fields and the richness of Black culture as we know it today.

"As a black Muslim woman, I wanted to create something that not only represents me but also others like me, we are often overlooked. My goal is that this initiative encourages people to learn more about the black Muslims, their diverse history, backgrounds and to continue learning. Thanks to the support of BSU and my fellow MSA board members, we were able to bring this idea to life."
Black History is not just confined to the month of February; Black excellence occurs everywhere, everyday. It is so important that we continue to recognize this fact and create work and relationships that foster this understanding.
"Blackness is not all about struggle. It’s about light, perseverance, and joy".
Happy BHM!
This is a powerful initiative by Mariama Bayo, shedding light on influential Black Muslims who have often been overlooked. It’s a meaningful way to celebrate diversity and Black excellence beyond just Black History Month. Sprunki Retake Sprunki Incredibox Sprunki Sprunki Incredibox Sprunki Game RymGames Sprunki Phase
